Summary

Rudyard Kipling’s classic collection of fables gets reimagined in this deluxe four-color collectible volume, featuring stunning new artwork and nine interactive elements crafted by MinaLima Design, the award-winning design studio behind the graphics for the Harry Potter film franchise and the illustrated classic Peter Pan。

Since its publication in 1894, Rudyard Kipling’s beloved masterpiece The Jungle Book has been celebrated by generations of readers。 Composed of seven tales, each one accompanied by a poem, The Jungle Book introduces a lush, colorful world full of adventure and danger。 The first three tales include some of the most charming and unforgettable characters in literature—the man-cub Mowgli, the black panther Bagheera, the wise brown bear Baloo, and the ruthless tiger Shere Khan。 The other four tales each tell the story of a different animal, such as the travels of the white seal Kotick; the battle between the courageous mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and the deadly cobra Nag; Toomai and the elephant dance; and the camp animals of the queen’s guard。

The second volume in Harper Design’s newest series of deluxe reimagined children’s classics, this beautiful unabridged edition takes readers deep into the heart of the Indian jungle with specially commissioned four-color illustrations and nine exclusive interactive features that will delight readers, including a map of the lost Indian city where Mowgli is taken by the monkeys; a trifold detailing the Laws of the Jungle; a spinning dial of the elephant dance; and a map of Kotick’s route to find a new home。

Beautifully designed, this keepsake illustrated edition will be treasured by readers of all ages。

Jungle book is collection of short stories but most famous is story of Mowgli, boy raised by the wolf pack in the jungle。 It is fun little book for the kids that grownups can enjoy。 I personaly liked ccartoon more than a book witch is unusual because books are often superior to films。

Overall I was pretty disappointed with this。 However, I love the story of Rikki Tikki Tavi (have loved it for a long time) so I bumped it up from two stars to three just because of that。 Basically, just read Rikki Tikki Tavi。

I just finished "The Jungle Book" and "The Second Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling。 These were two really fun sets of short stories! I really enjoyed the Mowgli stories the most (with Bagheera, Baloo, Kaa, Sher Khan and the rest), but there were some other great adventures as well like "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi"。 Highly recommended! Bit weird。 Still a classic。 Enjoyed the jungle philosophies。

I liked all the stories, but I am especially going to miss Mowgli and the Jungle。 I almost wished a stranger “Good hunting” after setting the book down!

Family read aloud。 We enjoyed this immensely on audio。 Mowgli was our favorite - and I will flag it for some violence and thematics for younger readers。 A great classic to revisit。

It was a quick but fun read! The poetry and songs placed between the stories was fantastic, I suggest reading those out loud to really hear it。 I never knew the book had more stories than just that of Mowgli。 The story of the seal in the Bering Sea was my favorite, although hearing the full story of both Mowgli and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was neat too。

I actually didn’t know the jungle book is a collection of tales but apart from that, this book is amazing。 I was not much difference in the book and movie, the book was well written and obviously very very interesting and the movie is even better because the books were just describing the characters but the movie actually showed them。 This was literally my favourite book and movie growing up。 This book shows mowgli’s adventure and his animal friends, bageera and how the tiger doesn’t want him to I actually didn’t know the jungle book is a collection of tales but apart from that, this book is amazing。 I was not much difference in the book and movie, the book was well written and obviously very very interesting and the movie is even better because the books were just describing the characters but the movie actually showed them。 This was literally my favourite book and movie growing up。 This book shows mowgli’s adventure and his animal friends, bageera and how the tiger doesn’t want him to live in the jungle with other animals。 。。。more

I read the free kindle version of this book and although I enjoyed Kipling’s storytelling and especially his use of verse。 I found the lack of proper formatting detracted from the enjoyment。

I have never read any Kipling before, so this was a really good introduction。 Essentially, the Jungle Books are a series of short stories, of which about half refer to the adventures of Mowgli, a child raised by wolves in the jungle。 Each one are a collection of morality tales and old folk stories that show the importance of order and structure in the natural and human worlds。 They are beautifully written, and show a real understanding and love for the natural world and India, where most of them I have never read any Kipling before, so this was a really good introduction。 Essentially, the Jungle Books are a series of short stories, of which about half refer to the adventures of Mowgli, a child raised by wolves in the jungle。 Each one are a collection of morality tales and old folk stories that show the importance of order and structure in the natural and human worlds。 They are beautifully written, and show a real understanding and love for the natural world and India, where most of them are set。 I really enjoyed these stories, and would recommend them to anyone! 。。。more

The only story that I really liked was Rikki Tikki Tavi。 That has been a favorite of mine since I had watched the cartoon when I was a kid, otherwise the book itself is just ok。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Why is this book so violent?? And it’s a children’s book??? A bitter tiger with a lame foot gets TRAMPLED TO DEATH?? A bunch of baby seals get clubbed and skinned and just none of the adult seals care?? And the mongoose rips open the snake eggs and murders a bunch of harmless baby snakes?? I was shocked

Rudyard Kipling was a strict supporter of colonialism and misogyny, but he also was a wonderful writer。 He was able to create some of the most vivid stories of animals and children and this one is certainly his best work。 Kipling’s language is rhetorically thick, every sentence charged, yet the action fast-paced and rousing。 I was also really enthralled by its timeless class compared to its more known pop-culture adaptations。 For me, all of the stories in the book were interesting and their mora Rudyard Kipling was a strict supporter of colonialism and misogyny, but he also was a wonderful writer。 He was able to create some of the most vivid stories of animals and children and this one is certainly his best work。 Kipling’s language is rhetorically thick, every sentence charged, yet the action fast-paced and rousing。 I was also really enthralled by its timeless class compared to its more known pop-culture adaptations。 For me, all of the stories in the book were interesting and their moral implications were mostly enlightening。 。。。more

I grew up reading stories and adventures of Mowgli time and again, till I ended up reading the book myself。 Beautiful story, a tale of friendship, love and the fact that animals love and protect their families fiercely, even more so than humans。
